Masterplans and development briefs provide a framework against which future planning decisions are taken.

They can also be useful tools for gaining consensus as to the best way forward, especially where there are a number of different interests or where it would be useful to differentiate between elements of a proposal.

Our Expertise

Directions Planning Consultancy prepares masterplans and development briefs to provide pragmatic and creative frameworks for future development - from neighbourhood regeneration masterplans to development briefs for listed buildings.

It is sometimes prudent to prepare such spatial plans and policy frameworks in accordance with Supplementary Planning Guidance requirements. We are familiar with the statutory requirements which provide the means to securing sufficient policy weighting, and we are able to utilise a variety of techniques to ensure stakeholders are engaged in the process.

Our Experience
Selby District Council

Land is being promoted on behalf of a private landowner through the Selby Local Plan for residential allocation. The land is however part of a much larger allocation of more than 1500 dwellings to include a new school and local facilities. The size of the allocation and means of access, along with issues such as flood risk and highways means that we have been working with the neighbouring landowners to look at the comprehensive development of the wider site.
